TOP SHELF SELECTION:
Rienenger 2011 Syrah - Walla Walla. Scents of lavender, violet, hint of white pepper, and slightly damp Forest floor. Fine drying tannins accompany flavors that begin with blueberry, loamy minerals and black raspberry then evolve to huckleberry and cassis. Melded spices of nutmeg and white pepper become more pronounced at mid-palate while anise notes appear at the finish.
WHITE WINE SELECTION:
Compte LeLoup 2010 Muscadet - France. Aromas in the nose are citrus with white flowers. The wine has concentrated tones that confer more exotic fruit and a bit of creaminess in mouth. Don’t be afraid to try this wine that is rich, dry and minerally. It will also benefit from cellaring.
Giesen 2014 Sauvignon Blanc - New Zealand. “Fresh, inviting and zippy dried citrus aroma, fine depth; medium bodied, pert and bright on the palate; dry, medium acidity, well balanced; bright citrus and mineral flavors, excellent ripeness; medium finish.” 90 pts., Wine.com
Markham 2013 Chardonnay- Napa Valley. Freshly picked Bartlett pear and Golden Delicious apple aromas are highlighted by decadent vanilla and steely mineral notes. Rich and lush on the palate, the apple and pear flavors carry through. The sur-lie barrel aging gives layers of texture to the mouthfeel allowing the new toasty oak its own chance to shine. A MAW top-seller.
RED WINE SELECTION:
Flegenhiemer Out of the Park 2013 Shiraz- Australia. “ …offers a wonderfully spicy cinnamon and clove-laced nose with hints of anise and cracked black pepper over a core on blackberry and plum preserves. Voluptuously fruited, fullbodied, rich and spicy with velvety tannins and just enough freshness, this is a classic McLaren Vale beauty…” 90 pts., The Wine Advocate
Earthquake 2013 Zinfandel - Lodi. “It is no wimpy Zinfandel at 15.5% alcohol, but is full-bodied, offering briary, peppery, meaty and herbal black fruits and some red fruits. The wine is pure, deep, fleshy, and ideal for drinking over the next 3-4 years." 91 pts., Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate.
Coppola Claret 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Blend- California. This Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc blend is alluring and sophisticated; it is memorably lush with a tapestry of smooth tannins and succulent flavors of wild berries, plum and anise. Borrowing tradition of European wineries, they add gold netting to bottle to signify outstanding quality of wine.
